Abarth is running a limited edition version of Abarth’s striking 695 biposto, the Record. The stunning model is priced at £36,610 OTR and there will only be 133 examples (133 is the number of records held by the Scorpion brand) built for the worldwide distribution. The Record will feature as standard ‘Modena Yellow’ finish enhanced by the ‘Tar Cold Grey’ trims, finishing with the ‘695 Record’ badge on the side and aluminium bonnet.
The exterior features 18-inch OZ alloy wheels, large Brembo brakes and Akrapovic exhaust. The interior comes with a special instrument panel animation, Sabelt carbon shell seats, four point seatbelts, a cargo net and a unique numbered plate.
The Record is powered by the same engine as the Abarth 695 biposto, the 190hp 1.4 Turbo T-jet 16-valve engine. Supported by its weight (997 kilograms), the model has the best weight-to-power ratio and the best acceleration (from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds) in its category. Peak power comes at 5500 rpm and top torque is 250 Nm at 3000 rpm. The performance of the model comes from a mechanical self-locking differential combined with a manual synchromesh gearbox.
At the age of 57, Carlo Abarth broke a new acceleration record in a Class G car, at the Monza race track. Unable to find the right driver, he decided to lose 30 kilograms in weight and slip into the tight cockpit himself. The Abarth 695 biposto Record marks the 50th anniversary of this day.
The model is available to test-drive and order from Johnsons Abarth in Solihull.
