The third-generation ŠKODA Fabia Estate has arrived, and interested
buyers can look forward to greater space, new technology and more frugal
Expanded dimensions, added space
Practicality was a key draw to previous Fabia examples, and
ŠKODA has chosen to give buyers even more space for passengers and luggage. It
is 10mm longer, 90mm wider and 31mm lower than its predecessor, which
translates to a class-leading boot capacity of 520 litres. Folding the rear
bench increases this to a superb 1,395 litres, while there's also more space in
which even the tallest passengers can relax.
Appealing new technology
To attract new buyers to the Fabia Estate, the carmaker has fitted it with a host of new technology. An uprated infotainment system now features, with the highlights including Bluetooth® connectivity and a DAB digital radio. In a first for ŠKODA, the model will also arrive with Mirrorlink, a system which enables users to access smartphone apps via the display screen. Front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and start, and a revised air conditioning system are also all available, alongside an optional panoramic sunroof.
Refined engines as standard
On top of its onboard features, the automaker has paid attention to updating the engine line-up for improved efficiency. Three petrols and three diesels are the options, the former ranging from 74bhp to 108bhp and the latter 74bhp to 104bhp. The 89bhp 1.4-litre TDI impresses with returns of up to 83.1mpg combined, while the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol weighs just 1,004kg and returns 58.9mpg. Start/stop and brake energy recovery systems are included with all engines to improve output across the range.
