Could it be the Best Supermini Yet?
One of the UK’s most popular superminis, and certainly one of the best, the Volkswagen Polo has now entered its sixth exciting generation. The Polo has been around since 1975 and over the years it has evolved to become the attractive, easy-to-drive, efficient, practical and comfortable car that it is today. The all-new Polo comes in S, SE, Beats, SEL and R-Line trim levels, as well as GTI and GTI+ hot hatch variants.
Bigger is Better
The new Polo is larger than ever. It’s also almost one centimetre lower, which contributes to its purposeful bearing, something that is further enhanced by a slightly lower roofline and more prominent bumpers. Cargo capacity, meanwhile, has increased from 280 litres to 351 litres. Despite the increase in size, the car is actually lighter than before, which helps to deliver enhanced efficiency.
An Exceptionally Safe Supermini
The Polo comes with Euro NCAP’s maximum five-star rating, which means it has passed a series of rigorous crash tests to ensure high levels of safety for each occupant. The vehicle comes with a wide range of driver aids and passive safety features as standard. Included are Electronic Stability Control, Hill-hold Assist and an Automatic Post-collision Braking System. The new Polo also features Front Assist, a radar-based technology that analyses the movement of vehicles that are up to 80 metres ahead. If a collision is deemed likely, the driver is provided with audio and visual warnings. A worst-case scenario sees the system automatically applying braking pressure if the driver fails to do so.
