Volvo's practical V60 has been given a rugged makeover to create the
new V60 Cross Country. This tough estate has been designed for more
testing conditions than the city can provide. As well as a selection of
styling upgrades, the new arrival is fitted with cleaner and more
economical engines to reward buyers with lower running costs.
The Cross Country version of the V60 is easily identifiable as it has been given a higher ride height plus various styling changes. They include skid plates for the front and rear, side scuff plates and rugged bumper extensions. These features help to protect the elegant bodywork when you take on dirt roads or muddy fields, yet the model doesn't look out of place cruising through town.
The V60 Cross Country features a comfortable and spacious cabin that will no doubt appeal to family motorists. Further changes have been made here too, as black leather sports seats with brown stitching are available to buyers.
Details on the car's exact specification list have not yet been released, but you can expect a generous amount of kit on top of the entry-level offer. Business Edition is the start of the standard V60 range and includes Volvo's Sensus Connect infotainment system with a DAB radio and built-in Bluetooth®.
The manufacturer has confirmed that the estate will be powered by a choice between its D3 and D4 diesel engines. The 163hp D3 will power the front wheels and can return as much as 62.8mpg combined. The 181hp 2.0-litre D4 gets four-wheel drive for those who want optimum grip and it returns as much as 68.9mpg. Volvo has fitted intelligent active technology to assist the vehicle on the road and uphold its legendary safety standards. Torque vectoring with traction control will help the tyres to find grip by preventing wheel spin.
