The Volvo V90 was officially revealed in Stockholm, Sweden. Along with its siblings S90 saloon and XC90 SUV, the model is sitting on the Volvo’s SPA platform. The model will be the first that will offer a car without a physical key. The door, boot and the start engine will be unlocked using a smartphone app. Customers can opt for a standard key if they prefer, however.

The exterior features the ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlamp designs, a rectangular central grille with a striking Volvo badge and L-shaped rear lights that connect with the prominent tailgate, giving the back a great look. The interior has the same minimalist dash design as the S90 and XC90, with the familiar central touchscreen, in a portrait layout, Apple Car Play, high-end Bowers & Wilkins stereo system and sat-nav.

The model will be available with the Drive-E turbocharged four-cylinder engines: the D4 diesel with 187bhp and the D5 with 232bhp. The two diesels use an 8-speed automatic gearbox (with a 6-speed manual on the entry-level D4), which helps keep economy high and emissions low. The V90 comes in two trim levels: Momentum and Inscription. As standard, the models will feature LED lights, leather seats, sat-nav and a 9-inch touchscreen display.
