The new Volvo V60 is a much more stylish and refined take on the classic estate. The tapering roofline gives it the look of a coupé, as do the long, slender and elegant rear lights. The sporty, sleek look is highlighted by the air intakes and front grille that marks the V60 unmistakeably as a Volvo. The interior is beautifully stylish thanks to some imaginative design; this, combined with extraordinarily comfortable seats, puts anyone who drives the V60 firmly in the lap of luxury. It is also functional, with a floating centre console and 40/20/40 split rear seats, which are well able to accommodate five people and their luggage.
The V60 is available with a range of engines (petrol and diesel) each of which has superb fuel economy and low CO2 emissions without compromising on power. The D5 version has an impressive 0-60mph time of just 7.4 seconds. The power is delivered smoothly and efficiently thanks to the V60’s range of gearboxes, each of which is fine-tuned to complement the engine.
The safety features on the V60 are amongst the most advanced innovations available. The City Safety system pays attention at all times, monitoring traffic and applying brakes when needed to avoid a collision. Pedestrian Detection works in a similar way, looking out for any pedestrians that might unexpectedly cross your path. All of the technology on the V60 is state-of-the-art, designed to prevent an accident before it has the chance to develop, but should an accident occur the V60 is still well-prepared with features such as all-round airbags and a reinforced body structure, earning it the full five stars for safety from the EuroNCAP testers.
