Volvo XC90 wins Car of the Year Awards 2016

The Volvo XC90 has be awarded SUV of the Year at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2016. The vote was decided by 27-strong panel of motoring journalists, who write publications including the Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Top Gear and Auto Express.

The model is built on Volvo’s ground-braking SPA platform and is known to have the most advanced technology a Volvo has ever made. Available with an innovative petrol-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain, the car offers 407 hp yet CO2 emissions of only 49 g/km. It’s also known for its connectivity. The Sensus Connect system comes as standard and combines an intuitive nine-inch touch screen display – including pinch and zoom functionality – with refined voice control system. The software gives access to the internet and a range of cloud-based apps, while the option Apple CarPlay allows the driver to control selected functions of the his phone, like music streaming, directly from the Sensus Connect display.

Nick Connor, Managing Director of Volvo Car UK, said: “It’s a great honour for the XC90 to be voted SUV of the Year – especially when the people voting for it are some of the most influential and respected motoring journalists in the UK. The XC90’s stunning design, unrivalled practicalityand industry-leading technology, efficiency and safety perfectly meet the needs of modern premium SUV buyers, and awards such as this one prove just how right those buyers are to put their trust in Volvo.”
