Hyundai made a series of changes to its i40 Saloon to take the car into a new era. These updates enhance the vehicle’s form and function to make the car better than ever. It is now even more stylish, comfortable and rewarding for the fortunate motorists who recognise its quality.
Hyundai has focused on every area of the i40 Saloon’s design to make it as appealing as possible. The signature hexagonal front grille includes chrome inserts on the Premium model and sits between LED daytime running lights to draw attention at any time of day. The body has been elegantly sculpted to complement these first-class details, as neat folds along the edge of the bonnet and below the waistline show.
Inside an uncluttered and relaxing environment has been created to help you focus on the route ahead. Every surface feels as if it has been made from fine materials to strengthen the sense of quality, and they’ve been carefully crafted to maximise the amount of space for passengers and cargo. Up to 525 litres of luggage can be carried in the boot when the rear bench is upright.
There are four trim levels to choose from, and across this range is a host of Hyundai’s latest in-car features. The S-spec model is the entry-level variant and it includes Bluetooth® connectivity with voice recognition as standard. USB and AUX input enable you to play music from an external device, and your preferred track can be selected using controls mounted to the steering wheel. Touchscreen satellite navigation and a DAB radio feature in all but the i40 S.
Hyundai offers its 1.7-litre CRDi diesel engine with two power outputs for under the bonnet. The most muscular is the 141PS with Blue Drive, the manufacturer's efficiency technology. It helps the unit to return as much as 65.7mpg combined and emit only 114g/km of CO2. The engine can also be coupled with a choice of manual or automatic transmission, whereas the 115PS is linked with a six-speed manual gearbox only.
The i40 Saloon is not only clean and efficient but safe too, as the carmaker has fitted its latest active technology and passive features. For example, the brake assist system applies maximum braking pressure during an emergency stop to prevent a collision. Joining it is Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) which detects a loss of traction and adjusts engine and braking forces to prevent a skid. Airbags in the front and side of the cabin plus front head restraints protect you in the event of a collision.
