The fourth-generation Toyota Highlander was unveiled at the New York Motor Show last year and will be offered in the UK for the very first time from early 2021. The decision to bring the Highlander to Britain is part of Toyota’s renewed focus on its strong heritage with both hybrids and SUVs. The introduction of this seven-seater SUV will provide another option for large families looking for a spacious car without a “people carrier” silhouette.

Available in two trims – the Excel and Excel Premium – the Highlander represents the culmination of 23 years of hybrid technology, combined with the strong reputation of Toyota’s SUV models for unrivalled quality, durability and reliability. Equally, it brings together the SUV qualities of comfort, drivability and safety with an efficient hybrid powertrain, intelligent all-wheel drive, a flexible interior and a two-tonne towing capacity.

Finally, Toyota packs the Highlander with a broad selection of driver-assistance technologies, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist and a traffic-sign recognition system, so it does all the hard work for you.

Strikingly sophisticated The Toyota Highlander measures 4,960mm long and is fitted with striking alloy wheels, helping create an urban look that is sleek, dynamic and sophisticated. When confronted with power, durability and the rugged appeal of a versatile AWD vehicle, you’re running out of excuses to look elsewhere.
Bold looks Force for good At nearly five metres in length, with reshaped headlights and a bigger grille, the new Toyota Highlander is a force to be reckoned with. The rear end gets a panel designed to look like a skid plate across the rear bumper and the slick alloy wheels come in a 20-inch size as standard.

Hands-free boot Shop till you drop Feeling bogged down with the burden of all those shopping bags? Well, don’t worry, as the Highlander’s tailgate is hands-free – you just need to wave your foot under the rear bumper to open or close it. And if you find yourself with more shopping than the Highlander's boot can handle, then the second row of seats can join the third in being folded down, effectively turning the car into a van.
