Meet the all-new Mazda MX-30 R-EV

The renowned MX-30 range is growing with the addition of the all-new MX-30 R-EV model, which has revived the rotary engine for Mazda.

The MX-30 launched in 2020 as Mazda’s first fully electric vehicle, offering a smooth, refined drive. It has a striking yet approachable exterior and a warm cabin with subtle driver-friendly touches to give undisrupted control to drivers.

The last Mazda model to channel power from a rotary engine was the Mazda RX-8, which was discontinued in 2012. As the latest addition to the MX-30 line-up, the MX-30 R-EV utilises plug-in hybrid technology to offer drivers a new way to experience an enthralling driving experience.

Debuting at the Brussels Motor Show on 13th January 2023, the MX-30 R-EV offers plenty of desirable features for those seeking a reliable electric vehicle suited for longer journeys.

To get technical, the MX-30 R-EV uses a Wankel rotary engine that runs at a constant speed to act as a range extender to steadily recharge the battery. For drivers, this means that the need to recharge frequently is significantly reduced and the MX-30 R-EV, in fact, has the power to go over 400 miles.

For those with an active lifestyle that takes you on planned and unexpected adventures, there’s no need to worry as the MX-30 R-EV is compatible with both normal and fast charging and has three driving modes – Normal, EV and Charge – to optimise your car’s power and suit different driving situations.

Inside and outside the MX-30 R-EV, you’ll find a variety of impressive safety and entertainment features. The exterior showcases full-LED headlights to help you see better and further, while smart keyless entry grants you entry without taking the key out of your pocket. Meanwhile, the interior hosts a range of modern technology, including a heated steering wheel, a 12-speaker Bose surround-sound system and a windscreen-projected colour-active driving display.

The MX-30 R-EV also has a brand-new Edition R trim, with subtle interior and exterior styling cues that nod to the unique rotary engine. From embossed seat headrests and orange touches on the driver and passenger floormats to the unique key fob with the Edition R logo, the striking Edition R is sure to be memorable for all passengers and passers-by.

So, when can you get behind the wheel of this plug-in like no other? The new Mazda MX-30 R-EV will be available to order later this year. In the meantime, get in touch with Johnsons Mazda to register your interest and find out more.
