What should you know about DPF?
The Diesel Particle Filter (DPF) is an eco-friendly component fitted to the exhaust to trap soot and reduce emissions. The DPF usually cleans itself when the engine runs at high speeds – a process called regeneration that takes place automatically on longer motorway-type runs when the exhaust temperature is high.
If the majority of journeys are short and stop/start, the regeneration process may not complete and a warning light will illuminate to show that the DPF is partially blocked.
The DPF must then be cleared; this is easily done with a DPF and fuel system clean at your regular service interval to ensure both the DPF and the fuel system are cleaned to provide maximum efficiency.
