The Toyota Mirai was awarded 2016 World Green Car at the New York International Auto Show and wad decided by a jury of 73 automotive journalists from 23 countries worldwide. The model only emits water vapour when driven and is a pioneering car that will contribute to the development of future hydrogen energy-based society. The vehicle is practical and fun to drive that offers a quiet, comfortable ride and eye-catching modern design.
Toyota Motor Europe’s Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing, Karl Schlicht said: “As recognised leaders in hybrid technology, we are truly honoured to have received such an award. This is a clear recognition of Toyota’s long-term commitment to the fuel cell, a convincing safe and relevant mobility solution which is leading the way to development of the ultimate eco-car.”
The UK is one of the first markets to supply the model, its introduction here taking lead of the development of national infrastructure for the supply and sale of hydrogen fuel. Early customers for the model include Transport for London, the private car hire service greentomatocars and hydrogen energy business ITM Power.
Demand for the Mirai has been high which prompted Toyota to announce an increase in production from around 700 this year to approximately 3,000 in 2017. Enquire with our team in Liverpool, Southport or the Wirral to find out more about the model.
