Toyota Prius was awarded with five-star Euro NCAP rating for being the safest car in its class. The brand’s continuous improvement of its safety technologies has helped the world’s best-selling full hybrid car to meet Euro NCAP’s strict and wider-ranging test criteria, which covers from how vehicle occupants and pedestrians are protected in a real-life accident situation to quality and range of safety functions provided.
In the report, Euro NCAP mentioned that the model scored maximum stars for its “good protection of all critical body areas” and for the performance of its autonomous emergency braking system. The equipment comes with Pre-Collision System and is able to detect and react to pedestrians as well as vehicles in the car’s path. The system is part of the Toyota Safety Sense package together with Adaptive Cruise Control with Full Speed Following function, Lane Departure Alert with steering control, Automatic High Beam and Road Sign Assist, all as standard on all Prius models. The driver can also opt for radar-controlled systems including a Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture, the new model’s crash test performance reflects the fundamental strength of the platform and body, which make good use of strategic reinforcements and use of high-strength steels to absorb and channel impact forces from the cabin.
The new Prius brings great advances in the fuel and emissions efficiency of Toyota’s full hybrid technology, while delivering a significantly more rewarding and fun driving experience.
