Earlier in the year we were thrilled to see the Fiat 500 and Panda Hybrids announced, as Fiat moves towards an electric future. And perhaps even more exciting is the Italian marque’s recent unveiling of its first all-electric vehicle – the Fiat 500.
Arriving first in a high-spec convertible launch edition, the new Fiat 500 La Prima is set to go on sale in the UK in the first quarter of 2021. The model was revealed at the start of March in an online video, in lieu of the 2020 Geneva Motor Show being cancelled.
Full details of the full electrified 500 range are thought to be planned for a reveal over the summer – watch this space!
An electrified icon
La Prima means “the first” and, as well as being Fiat’s inaugural all-electric model, the brand claims that it will be the first-ever purely electric four-seater convertible to hit the road. According to the marque’s website, the model will boast an impressive range of up to 199 miles (WLTP). It comes with a basic 3.0 kW wall charger for home charging, which can be upgraded to a 7.4 kW unit that can give you a full charge in six hours. Not only that – the 500’s battery can charge to 30 miles of range in five minutes using an 85kW public fast charger!
A refreshed shape
The Fiat 500 La Prima will be wider and longer, while maintaining the model’s iconic curvy silhouette. The front bumper has a new “upturned” grille design and the full LED headlamps are now split into two halves – ensuring that this new model will turn heads in the city! Only 500 vehicles are being produced in the UK, and each model will therefore feature a dedicated ‘1 of 500’ plaque, as well as bi-tone diamond-finish 17-inch alloy wheels and an exclusive soft top with the Fiat signature. You can also choose from three elegant exterior colours: Ocean Green, Celestial Blue and Mineral Grey.

Step inside the Fiat 500 La Prima to discover stylish leather-free seats stitched with an exclusive Fiat pattern, textured dash inserts, and a large high-definition 10.3-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment interface touchscreen on the dashboard.
La Prima will also come with three driving modes, including the new ‘Sherpa’ option, which is designed to help you reach the nearest charging point by limiting your top speed and turning the air conditioning off. Fiat also claim that the model will be the first city car to give you Level 2 Autonomous Driving, saying: “It will be able to autonomously accelerate, brake, keep you in lane, read road signs and suggest adjusting your speed accordingly.”
Three exclusive models
As well as the La Prima edition, Fiat has also linked up with three iconic Italian brands to produce one-off specials, which will be auctioned for charity: the 500 Giorgio Armani, the B.500 ‘Mai Troppo’ (Never Too Much) by Bvlgari and the 500 Kartell.

Lenders typically pay a commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions; some lenders may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you would like to know the amount of any remuneration we have received from the finance provider, please ask us.
