How Electric Cars work Electric cars are simple: drive it, charge it, drive it again.
Plug it in Charge the car You can charge the battery pack at home with a 3-point plug or a home charging station, or charge it at a public charging point. Electric cars have varying official ranges, which affects the amount of miles between charges.
Drive it Get moving The battery then powers the electric motor to get the wheels turning. Electric motors can spin faster than a typical engine meaning there is no need for gears and they can deliver a lot of torque for powerful acceleration
Regenerative braking and more Living with it The larger battery offers the opportunity for more features such as turning on the car’s temperature control remotely. To conserve energy and increase range, electric cars charge their own battery by recovering energy through braking.
Benefits of Electric Cars From high levels of technology to reduced running cars, there's a lot to be excited about when it comes to innovative vehicles
No fuel Reduced running costs Thanks to not needing to add petrol or diesel, you can save substantially on your fuel costs. Plus, Electric cars benefit from reduced road tax and reduced company car tax.
Clean driving No emissions Electric cars don’t burn fuel which means they don’t output emissions. Not only does this mean cleaner air around you but also offers other benefits such as free entry to certain car parks and free driving in emission control zones
Cheaper motoring Lower Maintenance Costs With less moving parts thanks to an electric motor, Electric cars are less prone to breaking down and also require less maintenance. For example, the electric motor creates resistance while braking to charge the battery meaning that there is less wear on the brake pads
