The Mazda RX-VISION has been voted “Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year” at the 31st Festival Automobile International. The model has a striking sleek design with a two-seater. The styling follows the KODO: Soul of Motion design philosophy, with smooth-flowing proportions and also pays tribute to Mazda’s rich heritage of front engine, rear-wheel drive sports cars.
The bold red paint that was showcased made the model even more dramatic on the Tokyo stand, while elements that hint at some of Mazda’s previous sports cars are incorporated into the design too. The wheels are 9.5J at the front and 11J at the rear and complete the look. Inside, the back-to-basics approach continues with a simple instrument panel and saddle-stitched leather.
There’s no technical data available yet, but it is understood it will be a pure rotary, with no electric assistance.
This latest recognition is another honour for Mazda’s global design division, which took home three prizes in September at the Automotive Brand Contest 2015 including the famous “Team of the Year” award.
