New SEAT Cupra Ateca Lifestyle

Performance spec released for the new Cupra Ateca

New performance brand Cupra has announced the full technical details for its hotly anticipated inaugural model. Billed as ‘an SUV with the heart of a sports car’, the Cupra Ateca is due for launch before the end of the year – and here at Johnsons, we can’t wait to take it for a spin!

The Ateca is likely to set the tone for future models from Cupra, the new stand-alone performance division of SEAT. It is expected to arrive in dealerships by December, with prices starting from £35,900. The new all-wheel-drive SUV boasts impressive performance stats; it can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 153mph.

Under the bonnet sits a 300PS 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which develops 400Nm of torque from 2,000rpm. Its fuel consumption is rated at 38mpg, with CO2 emissions of 168g/km. To handle this performance, the Ateca has been given an independent front suspension system, along with adaptive suspension which allows the driver to tailor the car’s settings to their individual preferences.

Wayne Griffiths, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at Cupra, said:

“SUVs are still growing massively in popularity, but there is no car like the Cupra Ateca on the market. That is why we are confident that it is going to be a success and a great first pillar of the brand, expressing perfectly the Cupra key brand values of sophistication, uniqueness and performance. We are very optimistic that we will attract new customers who are looking for such a unique car, positioned between the mass and the classical premium segment.”

The new Cupra Ateca features more aggressive styling than the SEAT original, with deeper bumpers, 19-inch alloy wheels and four exhaust tailpipes. The dynamic appearance can be further enhanced with optional 18-inch Brembo brakes in black, carbon fibre exterior mirror caps and Cupra bucket seats.

Inside the cabin, you can take advantage of more kit than in the regular SEAT version, with a fully digital dashboard including an 8-inch touchscreen sat nav and infotainment system, switchable instrument displays, plus pumped-up seats with Cupra branding. Standard tech includes keyless entry and start, wireless phone charger, GSM signal booster, 360-degree top-view camera, digital cockpit and park assist.

Stay tuned for updates on when this exciting new model is set to arrive!
