We all know that the daily commute and long motorway trips are taking out the joy out of driving. It is this time when drivers are most willing to assign the act of driving to their car. That’s why the Swedish brand has developed Concept 26 (the name reflecting the average daily commute to work of 26 minutes – time that could be spend doing more significant tasks than sitting in the traffic). With this option, the driver can enjoy the driving experience when he wants to or to delegate driving to the car when he wants to do something else.
Research shows that people either want to do something productive with their time or just relax, watch videos or listen to music when they have the autonomous drive. Concept 26 can offer either of them with the new seat design that actively supports the driver during the transformation phase into one of the three models: Drive, Create or Relax.
When the driver assigns the driving to the car, the steering wheel retracts, the seat reclines and a large display appears from the dashboard, giving the driver the option to enjoy the time spent in the car. Using technology that is part of our everyday life, Concept 26 offers new possibilities and entertainment in the car.
The Volvo brand is among the first to address the topic of self-driving cars and liability.
