Volvo Gloucester is sponsoring Tall Ships

Johnsons Cars is proudly supporting the Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure Festival which returns to the city on this May bank holiday weekend.

Organisers are expecting up to 200,000 visitors at the award-winning event taking place between May 25 and May 27 at Gloucester Docks. Businesses from across the city and beyond have helped support this year’s festival including headline sponsors Gloucester Quays along with Gloucester BID, Pro, Johnsons Cars, Dowdeswell Estates and Bang and Olufsen and Sibling Distillery.

Taking place every two years, the Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure Festival has won countless awards since it began in 2007; including a Cotswold Tourism Award in 2014 and a Waterside Renaissance Award in 2010. It was also runner up in the Recreation and Tourism category at the Living Waterway’s Awards 2016.

Jason Smith, Chief Executive of festival organisers Marketing Gloucester, said: “Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure Festival is the jewel in the crown of the city’s event calendar bringing in a huge number of visitors every two years.

“It takes a great deal of investment to put on this event and it simply would not be possible without the fantastic support of the business community. We cannot thank our sponsors enough for everything they have done to help back this festival which is going to be the biggest and best yet.”

As well as the majestic tall ships such as Vilma, the Grayhound, TS Royalist, La Malouine, and the Matthew gracing the city’s waterfront this year’s festival will also be brought bang up to date with its new adventure theme.

New for 2019 is a 1,000 ft-long zip wire across the Docks and incredible superhero-style Gravity Jet Suit displays. The Industry Pro Wakeboarders will also be returning to the waterfront this year.

There will be plenty to see and do on dry land as well with a mobile surfing simulator, circus performers and BMX displays plus fantastic food, drink and shopping stalls. On Saturday May 25, hundreds of county schoolchildren and other local performers will also be taking to stages across the festival as part of a one-day event in partnership with the prestigious Water City Music and Gloucester Academy of Music.

There will also be a performance by the Royal Marine Band Service on Monday May 27 as part of the festival’s programme of live music. Standard tickets for the festival are £10 for adults with accompanying children under-12 free with every ticket purchased. Tickets for the zip wire are £39.95 (plus booking fee) and include an access all areas pass for the festival which is valid across all three days. Terms and conditions apply.
