Volvo XC40 WhatCar Car of the Year 2018 banner, Johnsons Volvo

Volvo XC40 named 2018 Car of the Year!

For the first time in the prestigious award’s 40-year history, the Swedish manufacturer has taken the top spot, with the XC40 being named What Car? Car of the Year for 2018.

On its journey to success, the compact SUV saw off tough competition from other excellent cars, to win the Family SUV category, before entering into the ring with the 20 other category winners to then be named the overall Car of the Year for 2018 – the highest honour that What Car? can impart on a new car.

Jon Wakefield, Managing Director of Volvo Cars UK, said: “We talk often of Volvo’s transformation into a genuine premium brand, a statement which ultimately has to stand up to the scrutiny of customers and critics alike. For the XC40 to receive this award – and remember that this is a car competing head-on with established offerings from the likes of Audi, BMW, Jaguar Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz – is further proof that we are recognised by those critics as not just competitive, but leading, within the premium marketplace.”

At Johnsons, we can safely say this model has been one of our favourite new releases from the luxury manufacturer, bringing a fresh and exciting model to the compact SUV market. Its eye-catching exterior with smartly inverted radiator grille and distinctive LED headlamps leave a lasting impression on the road. Inside you will have everything you need at your fingertips with a nine-inch display that comes equipped with voice-activation functionality.

With performance on point, the XC40 comes with the choice of five different four-cylinder engine options that will leave you excited to take on the open road!

Coming soon to Johnsons Volvo in Gloucester, Oxford and Solihull, you will be able to experience all the XC40 has to offer first hand. Register your interest at your local showroom to keep up-to-date with the latest news!
