Volvo XC60 2018 WhatCar Safety Award, Johnsons Volvo

Volvo XC60 comes out on top in the What Car? Car of the Year Safety Award!

The new XC60 from Volvo is taking the What Car? Car of the Year Awards by storm! The XC60 has come out as being the safest car of the year thanks to its innovative new technologies, designed to prevent a wide range of accidents.

In 2017, we saw the XC60 gain the highest Euro NCAP test score of the year, scoring a near-perfect 98 per cent in the Adult Occupant category. Malin Ekholm, Vice President at Volvo Cars Safety Centre, stated: “The new XC60 is one of the safest Volvo cars ever made! It is fully loaded with new technology designed to assist drivers, to help protect vehicle occupants and other road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists, plus mitigate collision risks.

Our vision is that by 2020, no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo car. The achievements of the XC60 are examples of our commitment to developing the latest safety and support systems as we strive towards that vision.”

We are pleased to say that the XC60 has joined the S90 and V90 in making history for the Swedish manufacturer, as they are the first to hold the top three rankings in Euro NCAP’s Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) tests – AEB City, AEB Inter-Urban and AEB Pedestrian. These three vehicles are the only cars that have achieved perfect scores in all three of these categories.

It is clear that the Volvo XC60 has won for all the right reasons. As well as the exceptional range of safety features, the XC60 has been completely designed around the needs of the driver to make each journey as easy and enjoyable as possible. From an integrated touchscreen in the centre console to full connectivity, you’ll have everything you need at your fingertips.

Showcasing an intelligent approach to power, the XC60 provides a thrilling ride that will leave you excited for every adventure. Take a test drive today at Johnsons Volvo in Gloucester, Oxford and Solihull.
