We were extremely pleased to see that at the 18th edition of the AUTOBEST awards, Hyundai was presented with the SAFETYBEST title as a recognition of its innovative rear occupant alert system.
The Director of Product and Pricing Management at Hyundai Motor Europe collected the award and said: “Hyundai is proud to receive this prestigious SAFETYBEST award for our new Rear Occupant Alert system. This life-saving feature goes beyond the industry’s commonly-offered safety technologies and demonstrates our commitment to provide the highest levels of safety for our customers and other road users.”
This system was introduced on the Santa Fe last year, recognising the presence of passengers, animals and other objects in the rear cabin and will alert you when leaving the car if the rear doors are not opened. The jury, comprising members from 31 European countries, noted the potential of this technology to prevent a driver leaving a child in the back seat, therefore helping to protect children, especially in hot conditions.
There has also been a number of other safety systems added to the All-New Santa Fe to help it stand out, and keep you and your passengers as safe as possible. This includes a rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, which will warn you if a vehicle approached when reversing out in areas with low visibility, and will also apply the break for you automatically. The safety exit assist prevents accidents when vehicles approach from behind by temporarily locking the doors before being opened so that passengers can exit the car safely. All of the features that we’ve mentioned are part of the Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driving assistance technologies that have been designed to make your time on the road not only safer, but more enjoyable.
