Under the bonnet of the
Volvo XC90 you can choose to have a diesel engine, a petrol engine, or a
combination of petrol and electric. All editions are all-wheel drive, and all
have eight-speed automatic transmission. The D4204T23 diesel is a four-cylinder

7.4 seconds, yields 49.6mpg and has CO2 emissions of 149g/km. The turbocharged and
supercharged petrol engine moves you from 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds, returns
34.9mpg and emits CO2 at 184g/km. The electric and petrol engine races
from 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and gives an impressive 134.5mpg, with CO2 emissions of 49g/km.
Serious about safetyFIND OUT MORE
Serious about safety
Volvo’s vision is that “no
one will be seriously injured or killed in a new Volvo by 2020”. The company’s
Intellisafe program is working towards achieving this goal, by developing and
introducing new safety technology, such as forward collision warning, and
pedestrian detection, and by using high-strength boron steel safety cages in
the construction of new Volvo vehicles. Pilot assist reduces the risk of
collision by keeping a set distance between you and the car in front.
Alternatively, you have the option to set it to maintain a fixed speed. Pilot
assist also helps to ensure that you stay in your lane, with subtle steering
inputs as required to keep you within the white lines.

The R-Design Difference
The top-of-the-range
R-Design comes with a sport package to create an even more dynamic look for the
luxury SUV. 20-inch alloy wheels have a unique diamond-cut pattern, or you can
upgrade to 22-inch matt black alloys. A distinctive front grille and spoiler
are also exclusive to the R-Design. The cabin combines luxury with sporting
style, and is crafted with premium-quality materials. Special touches inside
include sculpted sports seats, a perforated leather-trimmed steering wheel, and
steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles for that racing-style feeling. The
drive is special too, thanks to the lower and firmer sport chassis which hugs
the road.
The art of craft
Introducing the XC90
If you are looking for a
generous-sized SUV, combining the latest technology with sophisticated luxury,
the Volvo XC90 has to be the answer. Rated five out of five by Auto Express,
the Volvo XC90 is clearly a car which ticks all the boxes.
The commanding appearance
of the XC90 is not just due to its elevated stance but also the confident
styling from front to rear, with bold grille, clean minimalist headlights and
sleek body sculpting. Body-coloured auto-folding heated door mirrors with
ground lights are both stylish and practical, as are the silver-coloured roof
rails. Trim levels to choose from are the Momentum, Inscription and R-Design. The
Momentum has 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels beneath the sculpted wheel arches,
while the higher trims both have 20-inch alloys. The Inscription has chrome
side mouldings which feature the Inscription logo.
Step inside
The interior is every bit
as luxurious as the exterior is stylish. The cabin is crafted with the highest
quality materials, including leather, wood, aluminium and on the R-Design,
carbon fibre inlays. The Momentum trim has leather-faced seats, while Nappa is
used in the Inscription edition, and nubuck in the R-Design. A power-adjustable
driver’s seat with lumbar support makes it easier to get comfortable, and there
is ample space at all seven seats. The
generous boot offers plenty of room for all the family’s belongings, and it is
easy to access too, thanks to the power tailgate with hands-free opening.
Stay connected
The Volvo XC90 brings you
all the technology you need to stay connected, wherever your journey takes
you. Volvo’s Sensus system with smartphone
integration technology enables you to access apps and features from your
smartphone using the touchscreen display located in the centre console. You can
choose whether to operate the specially developed interface system via the
screen, voice command or via steering wheel-mounted controls. When you need to
make connections from afar, you can set up a Wi-Fi hotspot in your Volvo. Volvo
On-Call subscription service uses an app to allow you to connect with your
Volvo at any time. You can lock or unlock the doors, check your fuel level, or
even start the engine remotely to allow your car to warm up or cool down before
you get in.
