Discover the new Lexus UX 300e: the first all-electric Lexus

As we move closer to electric driving being the norm, we were delighted to read about the new Lexus UX 300e. Lexus has always been at the forefront of electrification – let’s not forget the RX 400h from 2005! – plus the marque has built over 1.6 million self-charging hybrids since 2004. But the UX 300e signifies a new landmark: it’s Lexus’s first battery-electric vehicle.

This electric version of the regular UX crossover will be available to pre-order from August, ahead of its launch early next year. But what does the UX 300e offer drivers? What’s its range? And does it look different from the petrol version? Read on to find out!

Lexus: electrified

Lexus says the UX 300e has been created “to evoke the original fun of driving in the city”. It’s powered by an advanced electric motor delivering 150 kW and 300 Nm of instantaneous torque. Enjoy swift linear acceleration – from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds, and a top speed of 100mph producing CO2 emissions of 0g/km as you drive.

With the UX 300e’s range of up to 186 miles, you can drive assured that it will get you through your working week – and will even have some charge left for those weekend escapades! The 54.3 kWh lithium-ion battery can rapid-charge from 0-80% in 50 minutes, and also comes with a 10-year/1,000,000-kilometre battery warranty – one of the best in the industry.

The UX you love

The original Lexus UX is a popular model with dynamic urban looks, and the UX 300e takes the same recipe with only some subtle changes – following Lexus’s ethos that “all-electric vehicles represent more of a natural evolution than a disruptive revolution.” The UX 300e features the same distinctive 'signature' large front grille, flared front and rear wings and streamlined shape, while adding new special 17-inch 'aero-ventilating' alloy wheels, different badgework and a charging port replacing the fuel filler on the rear pillar is.

Intuitive technology

Every element of the driving experience has also been electrified – from the sophisticated cabin sound composed by Active Sound Control, right through to the powerful yet efficient air conditioning. Intuitive to use, Lexus Link offers practical electric car features like remote charging, remote air conditioning and a charging station finder. Most importantly for city driving, the new UX 300e is equipped with the advanced Lexus Safety System +, giving you peace of mind as you explore!
