Lexus LC named ‘Best Convertible’ at the 2021 carwow awards

It was a delight to see the new Lexus LC Convertible triumph as ‘Best Convertible’ at the recent carwow awards. After all, 2020 saw Lexus UK scoop no fewer than 16 awards, meaning that this year has a lot to live up to…

The awards are voted for by car-buying comparison website carwow’s five-million-strong YouTube subscriber base. Only cars that are all-new, or those that have been significantly updated, are considered for the awards – rather than every single car that’s been on sale.

Matt Watson, lead reviewer for carwow, enthuses about the many qualities that make the LC 500 such an unmistakeably first-class convertible: “This car just looks absolutely stunning. It is a truly brilliant convertible with a fabulous interior. So just sit back, fold down the roof and soak up the admiring glances as you burble past.”

The Lexus LC Convertible delivers an unmatched level of roof-up and roof-down opulence and impressive V8 power, joining the Lexus range to provide a unique and sensory driving experience. But what workmanship actually goes into this standout car?

The LC 500 is based on Lexus’s LC flagship coupé as a model in its own right, with outstanding attention to detail, meaning it gifts you first-rate styling, aerodynamic performance, ride and handling. Launched in summer 2020, it represents the very best in Lexus design, engineering and takumi craftsmanship.

Chief Designer Tadao Mori worked with his team to dream up “the world’s most seductive convertible,” striving to mirror the dynamic and delicious lines that are the very essence of the coupé. This incorporated the design of an all-new retracting soft top with a fun folding mechanism, meaning it can be stowed in a neat space. This, combined with a tailor-made tonneau cover, gives you radiant rear styling that’s not to be overlooked.
