What Car? reveals the UK’s most reliable cars

The results are in from What Car’s latest reliability survey, which took opinions from 16,000 motorists and looked at 178 from 30 different brands, including nearly new cars to those up to five years old. Plenty of brands that Johnsons offer scored top marks, including Hyundai, Toyota and Mazda. It was Lexus, however, that topped the charts with an incredibly impressive score of 98.7%.

On an individual level, none of Lexus’ models scored lower than 98.4%, with the impressive hybrid Lexus NX (2014-present) scoring 99.8%. This model features a 2.5-litre 195bhp petrol-electric engine that produces a thrilling 206Nm of torque and reaches 0-60mph in just over nine seconds. Its expert engineering allowed it to outperform other models in the hybrid class by more than 3%, with the average reliability of hybrid models at 96.7%.

Delving deeper into the survey results, 20% of the drivers surveyed had experienced faults with their car in the past year, with 85% of faults repaired free of charge. A third of cars also remained driveable and were able to be repaired within a day – 25% could be driven but took longer than a week to repair.

Steve Huntingford, What Car? Editor, said: “The UK’s used car market is currently booming, making it all the more important that people know which models are reliable.” If you’re interested in an Approved Used Lexus, you’ll find an extensive range here at Lexus Liverpool to suit all your needs.
