The first SUV from Alfa Romeo, the new Stelvio, has been confirmed and will make its global debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November.
Following in the footsteps of the new Giulia saloon that has been lauded by the motoring press, the Stelvio is the second new model in Alfa Romeo’s ongoing new product offensive. The handsome new model will be offered with both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, and will sit in the mid-size category to rival the BMW X4, Porsche Macan and Jaguar F-PACE.
It will offer luxurious seating for five and an engaging driving experience. Even the Stelvio name comes from the switchback-laden mountain pass that links Italy to southern Austria, highly regarded by drivers for its twisting route and spectacular views.
The Stelvio will feature classic Alfa Romeo design cues, including the iconic ‘Scudetto’ V-shaped grille and lithe, Italian lines with a coupé-like silhouette. Inside, the dashboard design is said to closely echo the structure and driver-focused design of the new Giulia’s cockpit.
The complete engine line-up is to be confirmed, but what is known is that the 2.2-litre diesel engine and 2.0-litre turbo charged petrol unit from the new Giulia saloon will definitely feature. Further details of the available power plants and transmissions will be revealed following the public unveiling.
