Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio – true competition in the performance car market

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest releases, it should come as no surprise that performance SUVs are the talk of the town. These models have been making their mark throughout 2019, and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio is a prime example of this, with its whopping 503bhp and impressive handling, it’s a true petrolhead dream to get behind the wheel.

We aren’t the only ones who think this – the Stelvio Quadrifoglio has also been named as tough competition for some of the others in the market, specifically the BMW X3 M Competition. In a recent Auto Express report, these two models were pitted against each other in a number of different categories that encompassed every element of the vehicles. These included the following: infotainment, driving, running costs, ownership, practicality, and design and engineering. And in four out of these six categories, the cheaper Alfa Romeo performance SUV came out victorious. This therefore resulted in the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio being named the Auto Express Road Test Winner for October 2019.

Some of the factors that helped contribute to this win were how its lightweight design, the same that has been used on the Giulia saloon, gives this model its impressive manoeuvrability on the road, as well as helping you to feel the force of the incredible horsepower contained within the engine, which is derived from that of a Ferrari!

Another area where the Stelvio shone is in the ownership category, which takes into account the safety tech that has been packed into this model as standard, including AEB, parking sensors, reversing camera, lane-keep assist and blind spot assist – the latter two you have to pay extra for in the BMW.

At Johnsons Alfa Romeo we were extremely pleased to see this win – if you’d like to find out this model’s true potential for yourself, get in touch with a member of our helpful and friendly team today to book a test drive.
