Practical and Appealing

The Fiesta is available in three and five-door body styles. The latter, naturally, is the more practical option, allowing easy access for rear-compartment passengers. Nevertheless, the vehicle’s distinctly sporty qualities are emphasised further by models that are fitted with three doors. All variants come with a range of body-coloured fixtures, such as bumpers, a smart-looking rear spoiler and wing mirrors. The latter are power-operated and heated and incorporate indicator lights too. Zetec trim levels and above feature lightweight and stylish alloy wheels that range from 15 inches to 17 inches.

Plenty of Tech

All models come with an infotainment screen, which increase in size and sophistication as the trim levels progress. A 4.2-inch display is standard with entry-level Style grades, as are a six-speaker sound system and USB and AUX inputs – and Bluetooth connectivity, which enables audio streaming from compatible smartphones. Ford MyKey is another standard inclusion, a technology that encourages sensible driving habits. It’s ideal for first-time drivers, or a family member who has been allowed use of the car. MyKey actively promotes the use of seatbelts, for example, and can be programmed to set a safe maximum speed.

Safe as Houses

The Fiesta is an exceptionally safe car to travel in. For one thing, it boasts a maximum five-star rating, as awarded by crash-test specialists Euro NCAP. A range of driver aids are featured as standard, including Lane-keeping Assist (LKA), which warns of unintentional deviation from the intended lane. LKA automatically steers the car back on course if the driver fails to react. A suite of airbags, seatbelt reminders and seatbelt force-limiters and pre-tensioners are among an array of passive protective features that are included to keep occupants as safe as possible. Thanks to the presence of Bluetooth, the driver is able to make and receive hands-free phone calls too.

The Best Just Got Better

In the latter half of 2017, the seventh generation of a modern car classic was released – the Ford Fiesta. This perennial supermini is the UK’s bestselling vehicle and there’s little doubt that it’s top of its class too.

The Fiesta Mark 7 is bigger than previous iterations. The difference isn’t hugely noticeable at first, but does impact on the car’s interior space, which is more than decent for front-row travellers. The driver further benefits from a height-adjustable position and a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, allowing him or her to quickly establish their ideal position.

The car provides room for five people, and possesses a 292-litre boot space, which increases to 980 litres when the rear row is folded. In fact, the Fiesta’s split-folding seats provide a number of flexible options when it comes to getting the balance between passengers and cargo just right.

Ford Fiesta Lifestyle

With the Fiesta, Every Day is a Celebration

The Fiesta’s name means ‘festival’ or ‘party’, which is entirely apt. The car not only has style in abundance, it can be adorned with one or more eye-catching colours to make it really stand out. Several customisation options are available too. For instance, you can choose a specific hue for your Fiesta’s roof and door mirror shells that provides a sporty contrast to the body. Select the colour (or colours) that best reflect your personality, from Pearl White, Shadow Black and Moondust Silver to Race Red, Deep Impact Blue and Chrome Copper.

Efficiency and Potency

The Fiesta is a lot of fun to drive. While the car’s compact dimensions make it particularly ideal for city driving – and parking, it delivers a very serene ride on the motorway too. Entry-level Style trims are typically fitted with a 1.25-litre 60bhp petrol engine, which manages up to 54.3mpg, and produces a 122g/km CO2 emission figure. The most economic option is delivered by a 1.5-litre 85bhp diesel unit, which is also available for Style grades. This returns as much as 88.3mpg, while producing emissions as low as 82g/km. If you like your Fiesta with extra pace and power, ST models come with a 1.6-litre 200bhp petrol engine, which delivers 290Nm of torque and 0-60mph in roughly 6.5 seconds.
