ŠKODA has got 2020 off to a flying start with no fewer than eight awards at the prestigious What Car? awards, including two outright category titles and six price-point wins – the most the marque has ever won. The accolades, which are amongst the most influential in the industry, were spread across a range of models, demonstrating ŠKODA’s competitive offering for all segments and lifestyles.
The two category titles came for the SCALA, which was named ‘Family Car of the Year’, and the SUPERB, which took the crown for ‘Estate Car of the Year’. It is fantastic news for the SCALA, which was only launched last year – What Car? Editor Steve Huntingford commented on the triumph: “The SCALA is the latest in a long line of hugely impressive cars from ŠKODA, with its main strengths lying in its comfort and interior space. It is a remarkably complete car for the money.”
The SUPERB, meanwhile, is no stranger to the What Car? podium, being
awarded ‘Estate Car of the Year’ for an incredible fifth year in a row.
Huntingford praised the model, saying: “The SUPERB estate beats every
other rival, regardless of price, for cargo capacity, while its rear
seats are spacious enough for even those well over 6ft tall to sit back
in comfort.”
Along with its two category wins, ŠKODA models also scooped six price point titles, with the FABIA, KAMIQ and KAROQ also getting in on the award action. Looking to the future of motoring, it was brilliant to see the ŠKODA SUPERB iV crowned best Plug-in Hybrid (less than £35,000).
