Success runs in the family: Double titles go to the ŠKODA OCTAVIA

It’s a family affair for the new ŠKODA OCTAVIA, recently doing its fourth generation proud by adding another pair of trophies to the fast-growing haul of key industry titles under its bonnet, this time courtesy of the UK Car of the Year Awards (UK COTY). The judging panel were united in their praise for both the hatch and estate models, further bolstering the OCTAVIA as ŠKODA’s best-selling model in the UK and globally.

A completely independent organisation, the UK Car of the Year Awards is designed to feature and advise on the best new cars on the market for the UK car-buying public. The 29-strong panel of professional judges is made up of automotive experts who provide the broadest possible views and opinions.

First up, the crowd-pleasing OCTAVIA Hatch was trumpeted as being the Best Family Car 2021, thanks to its remarkable all-round ability. UK COTY judge Alex Robbins sums up its prowess nicely, saying: “In terms of fitness for purpose, the OCTAVIA is probably the best car I’ve driven all year. OCTAVIAs have always aced practicality, but with its coupé-like profile and plush interior, this new one’s genuinely desirable too. It wafts over bumps in a manner more akin to a big luxury car. It hits the spot perfectly.”

The stylish, spacious and safe estate version likewise caught the attention of the experts, storming to glory in the Estate Car category with its blend of practicality and value for money. Judge Matt Robinson said: “This model is as big on the inside and as crisply styled on the outside as ever. On a long motorway run, the OCTAVIA Estate is simply imperious. Still as great value as it ever was, this is the family wagon that everyone should choose, first and foremost.”
