The widely anticipated and significant Volvo V90 will be unveiled soon in Stockholm. The car is built based on 60 years of heritage, which started with the Volvo Duett released in 1953 – the first model to combine recreation time and practical professional lives. The Volvo V90 features the same advanced technology that the XC90 and S90 models have, the Scalable Product Architecture.
The exterior features 'Thor's Hammer' LED headlamp designs and oblong central grille. The interior looks pretty much the same as its siblings S90 and XC90.
A selection of iconic models has built Volvo’s history:
The Duett was released in 1953, and it was one of the first cars to be adored by customers and it was immortalised in 1997 by getting its own Swedish postage stamp.
Known officially as a 221, the model featured an elegant and refined design and also offered more boot space. The S trim was incredibly sporty by the 1960s standards.
The model was released in 1971 with exciting features such as huge rear window and hinges and handles that were fixed directly on the glass, which were very modern in the early 1970s.
The car was introduced in 1974, it remained in production for 20 years and was also available in a more exclusive edition – the 265 with a V6 engine.
The Volvo 960 was launched in 1990, featuring smoother body lines and a new six-cylinder engine. The name changed to V90 in 1996 and it was one of the most stylish estate cars in Volvo’s history.
The model was launched as a limited edition in a bright yellow colour in 1994 and it instantly became a collector’s item.
