The Volkswagen Touran has been designed to combine everyday practicality with advanced technology and a luxurious interior, ensuring that day-to-day travel is always an experience taken in the highest level of comfort. The flexible seating system allows space for up to seven people or endless combinations for luggage and storage, making it perfect for family travel.
This new model boasts maximum interior space on the smallest possible footprint plus the highest level of safety, convenience, comfort and connectivity in the compact MPV class.
The New Volkswagen Touran is a bigger than the old one, all the increased dimensions going into more interior space.New dimensions are built on a 2,791 mm wheelbase (+113 mm): 4,527 mm long (+130 mm) 1,814 mm wide (+41 mm) and 1,628 mm high (-6 mm).The model also has a new fold-flat system for the seats, helping towards maximising the bootspace. Because of the new design the middle row of seats can be also folded and access to the rearmost seats is a lot easier.

The luggage volume can go up to 1,857 when the middle three seats are folded but the standard volume is of 917 litres and up to 47 storage compartments. The new design brings a lot more space for the cabin (interior length up 63 mm to 1,779 mm) and the dashboard layout is more driver orientated
The new Volkswagen Touran comes in 5 options: petrol options (1.2-litre 110 PS TSI with a six-speed manual gearbox and a 1.4-litre 150 PS which is offered with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox) and diesel (1.6-litre 110 PS with six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG, a 2.0-litre TDI 150 PS with six-speed manual or DSG, and the range-topping 2.0-litre TDI with 190 PS and standard six-speed DSG ’box).
Four trim levels are offered at launch: S, SE, SE Family (new) and SEL. Highlights on the entry-level S will include automatic post-collision braking and pre-crash systems, seven airbags, Composition Media system with DAB and Bluetooth, air conditioning, roof rails and seven seats.
Moving up to SE adds 16-inch alloys, Front Assist with city emergency braking function, front and rear parking sensors, iPod connectivity and rain sensor. The new SE Family trim will feature, at a competitive price, family-friendly elements such as an extra-large panoramic sunroof with integrated lighting, three-zone Climatronic air conditioning, Discover Navigation with Car Net Guide and Inform and a cargo management system
At the top of the range, SEL adds Adaptive Cruise Control, Driver Profile Select and App Connect among other items. The Touran is available with a wide range of optional extras, eg Trailer Assist, Park Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Keyless Entry and Easy Open
Particularly apt for a car in this niche and new for the Touran are the following features:
