Technology in the Tiguan
An eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system is fitted in the SE and higher trims. Smartphone features can be mirrored on the system using Volkswagen’s Car-Net with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The media system can also be set up to be controlled by passengers in the back seats if you add the Discover Nav Pro system with Volkswagen’s Media Control technology. If you want the best possible music quality, you can upgrade to a Dynaudio surround sound system. DAB radio is fitted on all Tiguan trims. A 12.3-inch TFT active info colour display screen for all your vehicle data is also provided.
Volkswagen’s focus on safety in the Tiguan is very apparent. The Tiguan has been given a five-star safety rating in Euro NCAP tests and has won the Best Car Safety Award in the Car of the Year Awards 2017.
Standard safety features for the Tiguan include Lane Assist, as well as Front Assist with emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring. A driver’s knee airbag is included as standard in the suite of airbags for extra protection, and ISOFIX attachments in outer rear seats keep your smaller passengers secure.
All Tiguan models have the added benefit of the Volkswagen roadside assistance service, provided free for the first year.
The R-Line comes with its own exterior styling kit comprising badging, body-coloured rear spoiler and side skirts, and door sill protectors. Sports suspension is added on the R-Line model, and wheels are upgraded to 20-inch Suzuka alloys. The R-Line also gets its own distinctive headlights incorporating 14 individual LED lights. Under the bonnet you can choose to have the fastest engine in the Tiguan range, the 2.0-litre TDI 237bhp 4Motion edition, which will accelerate from 0-60mph in just 6.5 seconds. Inside you have plush ‘race’ upholstery or you can choose to add black and grey Vienna leather.
