This is the latest model to be added to the Volkswagen line
up – it’s
a pure-electric Golf-sized hatchback that will turn heads no matter where it
goes. Although it is still in its early stages, the ID.3 is looking like it will
have a three-level line up, with the top level having a single charge of up to
342 miles. It will take the form of a single, rear-mounted electric motor,
which will only provide energy to the back wheels.
Another remarkable point about this new model is that it’s set to be the world’s first carbon-neutral vehicle when it launches, and it’s said that VW have invested a whopping £10billion euros into developing its fleet of electric vehicles to help ensure the company is completely carbon-neutral by 2050. During its lifetime, the ID.3 will emit a total of 44 tonnes of CO2, of which 65% is fuel consumption, while the production process and supply chain only account for around 15%.
Charging will come in two forms of AC charging – 7.2kW and 11kW, and there will also be DC charging available up to 125kw via a CCS connection, which is the maximum that can be achieved with the car’s 400-volt electrical system. This should therefore also result in an 80% charge in 30-45 minutes, depending on the size of the battery you select.
Pre-booking for the first models opens in May, so if you’d like to be one of the first to get your hands on this distinctive and forward-thinking model, make sure you set the date in your diary for Wednesday 8th May 2019.

If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, or the vehicle is not one that we would normally place with them we will introduce you to other lenders on our panel. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions; some lenders may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing.
