Everything you need to know about the Volkswagen T-ROC

At the Geneva Motor Show in March, Volkswagen unveiled a concept their very own competitor for the compact SUV category – the Volkswagen T-ROC. Designed on the Golf platform, the T-ROC sits just below the Tiguan in class, and offers a striking design complete with plenty of high-tech features and leading-edge technology.

Redefining the compact SUV

Perhaps the most unusual feature of the T-Roc is the roof – a convertible unlike any seen before, comprising two halves that can be removed with simply a few clicks to open up the middle section of the roof. Add to that the unperturbed drive that doesn’t blanch even when faced with rocky off-road tracks, and the T-ROC is the vehicle that has it all.

Sharply defined muscular contours draw the eye immediately to the impressive bonnet, while large wheels and a confident grille add a new sense of power to the iconic Volkswagen design language, promising a ride as powerful as it looks. The T-ROC will be similar to the Audi Q2 in terms of mechanics, meaning you’ll be able to expect a high-class ride with all the luxury that goes with it, and though the ride height may be higher, the wheelbase will remain manageably compact at around 2.6 metres, similar to the Golf.

No release date has yet been set for the T-ROC, although it is expected to have an official release close to an on-sale date towards the end of 2017. It’s also possible that we could also see a small crossover based on the Volkswagen Polo next, completing the more muscular line-up. Whatever comes next however, it is safe to say the T-ROC is bound to lead the way with the sophistication and style expected in a Volkswagen.
