Volkswagen has revealed the latest version of its high-end Arteon fastback saloon, plus an all-new Arteon Shooting Brake. An upmarket car intended to rival the Audi A5 Sportback, this new version of the marque’s flagship model has been treated to a sleek facelift and comes with plug-in hybrid technology for the first time. Set to hit roads in early 2021, we take a closer look at this new four-door coupé.
The Arteon fastback saloon made a big impact when it arrived on the scene in 2017, and the latest incarnation is just as unmistakable, with a flowing silhouette, distinctive coupé-like roofline and a new design aesthetic – particularly shown in the new continuous strip of daytime running lights, stretching across the grille from one headlight to the other.
There’s also a new range of alloy wheels, new air intakes,
plus a unique LED light signature for night-time driving. The model is slightly
longer, lower and wider, giving the new Arteon added presence and interior
space. There will be two trim levels – the Elegance and R-Line – with the
latter coming with extra sporting details around the grille and a set of four
chrome exhaust tips at the back.
The new Arteon offers a range of engines, plus agile and intuitive handling. There’s a choice of TSI and TDI engines delivering either 240bhp or 280bhp, as well as a plug-in hybrid version offering an all-electric range of 34 miles, called the Arteon eHybrid. Both of the petrol and diesel engine choices come mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission, Active Cylinder Management and 4Motion. The plug-in hybrid system, meanwhile, uses the same PHEV system found in the Passat GTE – a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor, powered by a 12.7kW battery.
Step into the new Arteon and you’ll be instantly captivated by the stylish interior, with a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, ergoComfort seats, and an array of intuitive tech. It utilises almost entirely digital instruments along with Volkswagen’s latest array of safety technology. What’s more – the Digital Cockpit Pro includes a high-res 10.25-inch TFT colour display, configurable displays and detailed driving data.
The latest Arteon comes with a new Shooting Brake estate bodystyle, broadening the appeal of the model. From the wide radiator grille at the front to the impressive luggage compartment volume and striking rear design: the all-new Arteon Shooting Brake is guaranteed to make an impression! It also comes with the Elegance or R-Line trims and a plug-in hybrid engine option.
The new Arteon and all-new Arteon Shooting Brake will go on sale this autumn, with deliveries beginning in early 2021. Register your interest with Johnsons to be the first to hear any updates!
