Style and Substance

Volkswagen takes style seriously, but the safety of you and your passengers is an even higher priority, which is why you will find a wealth of safety features incorporated in the Arteon. These include an Emergency Assist system which consists of adaptive cruise control, lane assist and park assist. Dynamic light assist enhances your visibility of the road ahead with automatic adjustment of the main beam. Other technology features in the Arteon include driver alert, which detects when the driver’s movements suggest drowsiness and triggers a warning and activates the brake when needed.

Additional features in the R-Line trim

From the outside, the impressive 20-inch alloy wheels are the most obvious addition on the R-Line Arteon, which also has the added benefit of lower sports suspension. Upgrading to the R-Line trim also gives you a completely different look and feel inside the cockpit. You will find R-Line badging, contrast stitching and brushed aluminium inlays on the leather-trimmed sports steering wheel, while the ergoComfort seats are upholstered in Nappa leather and feature the embroidered R-Line logo, with carbon-effect side panels for added sophistication.

A New Era of Design

Introducing the Volkswagen Arteon

Arguably the best-looking car in the Volkswagen line-up, the Arteon five-door fastback saloon was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017 and is scheduled for release later this year. Developed to compete with the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, the Volkswagen Arteon has some unusual design elements, such as the elegant frameless side windows. Horizontal grille bars extend across to the headlights, adding a dynamic look, while smoothly sculpted lines create a sleek profile for the executive saloon. Large alloy wheels sit beneath generous wheel arches, while striking LED rear lights run across from the rear panels onto the boot panel. An optional panoramic sunroof with tilt and slide feature adds to the sophisticated look as well as allowing light to flood into the cabin. Trim levels available for the Volkswagen Arteon are the Elegance and the R-Line.

An Inviting Interior

The classy look and feel continues inside the Arteon, with premium-quality finishes throughout. The Elegance edition features plush upholstery on the ergoComfort front seats which offer excellent lumbar support. There is plenty of headroom and legroom for passengers in any of the seats, and no shortage of storage space, with the boot measuring 563 litres. The boot is quick to access thanks to a foot switch on the outside of the vehicle beneath the boot, and a wide opening means loading is easy too. There is also an easy-close feature – simply press a button and after a short pre-set time delay the boot will close.

New Volkswagen Arteon Upholstery

When the Arteon is first released there will be a choice between a 2.0-litre 276bhp turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre 237bhp bi-turbo diesel. The diesel edition travels from 0-62mph in just 6.5 seconds. Both editions will be fitted with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and 4MOTION four-wheel drive will be standard. There is also talk of a six-cylinder engine being added to the line-up in the future, so watch this space.

The engine is quiet even at higher speeds, so you can listen to your favourite music or simply enjoy the silence without disturbance. There is a choice of settings – Comfort, Normal and Sport, with the Sport mode allowing you to switch to a firmer suspension setting when you want it.
